agINFRA KickOff

 

agInfra-1st_Project_MeetingThe first agINFRA project meeting has taken place in between 8-10 November in Rome, Italy and it was hosted by FAO in their premises.

“To develop an infrastructure for scientific agricultural data and to improve service deployment for data bytransferring scientific and technological results from the agricultural field into real outcomes. Moreover agINFRA is proposing to create a high interoperability between agricultural and other data resources”.

The AIMS team at FAO has a leading role in the agINFRA project representing main usercommunities and bringing the requirements of theses user communities into the project

AGROVOC published as Linked Open Data

 In September 2011 our  team published the multilingual Agricultural Concept Scheme AGROVOC in the Linked Open Data Cloud.  This was the fruit of a year long restructuing of the traditional thesaurus into a concept based scheme that represents knowledge in the area of agriculture and related areas. Within very few weeks  1000 s of out and inlinks from other vocabularies were produced to link to AGROVOC.

Expert consultation in Beijing on Building the CIARD Framework for Data and Information Sharing

 From June 20-23. I participated in the international Expert Consultation on   Building the CIARD framework for Data and Information Sharing"  (https://www.ciard.net/news/highlights-expert-consultation-beijing-building-ciard-framework-data-and-information-sharing)

This conference was a major step forward to outline a framework for better information sharing in agricultural research for innovation
